Repairing Cracked Bodywork

My 85 Venture got blown over by the wind last year and was the recipient of a number of major cracks. I took part of my fairing to the local hardware and asked what kind of plastic it was. They said ABS. So a can of ABS glue in hand , I painted a few small cracks and waited. Did the job well enough but not real solid. Got thinking about it and there sitting on my work bench was a roll of fiberglas dry wall tape. Self !!! A light layer of glue thene press tape over glue and allow to dry. Second layer of tape and glue and allow to dry hard, about 30 minutes.   Then add trwo more layers of glue only and allow to dry hard each time.  This will give a sold light weight repair in no time . Hope it works as well for you as it has for me..........Good Luck, Dick South
