Q:  Hello there,

I recently purchased the back off modulator and have a question about installing it. The directions say to connect one wire to ground, one wire to the brake lights and one wire to the wire coming from the brake light switch......I know black is ground and yellow goes to the brake lights but which wire is to the brake switch?

Thanks,
Shawn

A: What brand modulator did you get?? I have a Signal Synamics BackOff-MC model and it only has two wires coming from it which you wire inline with the brake light circuit.

OK, just went to their website. The XP model has the additional ground wire, but the rest is wired the same.

The Backoff module goes inline of the brake line with the red wire closest to the switch end and the white/red striped wire closest to the actual brake lights. Below is a picture that may help.

Here is a video clip that shows the BackOFF modulator in action on my bike:

I have the back off module installed and working with the bikes tail/brake light. However, the trunk wing light does not pulse, it gives me a steady brake light while the tail light/ brake lights pulsates. Both are wired as instructed.........am I misssing something?

Thanks,
Shawn

Where is the trunk light tied into the brake circuit? If it is before where the BackOFF is wired in, then it would not get the pulse signal. Thats the only thing I can think could cause this...

yep, your right again Gary. The trunk wing is wired in before the back of module. I am sure that is the problem.

Thanks again.
Shawn

If possible, move the hot wire from your trunk light to where white/red stripe wire from the BackOFF ties into the brake circuit. If you look at my picture I say to disregard the red wire?? Well thats the hot wire from my under trunk LED Autozone light bar. ALL brake lights you want modulated MUST get the juice from after where the modulator is put inline.
