Brake Level Indicators

The brake level indicator will turn on even though the fluid level in the front master cylinder shows "full" through the sight glass. I would open the lid and check it that way. (also the indicator float is clearly visible and you could jiggle it if you feel like it - if you have not changed the brake fluid in 3 or 4 years the float may be sticking on some of that pasty white fluid that brake fluid turns into when exposed to moisture).

The rear brake fluid chamber has no sight glass to check, and is very annoying to fill. I fill it by using a bit of aquarium plastic air tubing.

Since the detectors are normally "on", a break in the circuit anywhere will give the false "empty" signal. The wires on the 84 are black/white on both sides on the front. The wires on the 84 are black/white and black at the rear master cylinder.

Hope that you have good luck diagnosing where the problem is, and fixing it.. .........Scott MacMartin Ottawa, Canada
